Hi. I’m Tara Mahoney - a mother, daughter, sister and fourth generation Irish settler who loves life on the unceded traditional territories of the Coast Salish peoples of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations aka Vancouver, BC.

I believe the climate emergency and the erosion of democracy are two of the defining issues of our time and joyful public engagement is essential to confronting them and the difficult times ahead of us.

Creative Publics is my public engagement consultancy that specializes in community-engaged research, creative direction, communication, teaching and facilitation.

It builds on the work of Gen Why Media a non-profit public engagement agency founded and led by myself and Fiona Rayher from 2010-2018.
